Position Requires a Top Secret (TS/SCI) Clearance with a Polygraph.

The customer is launching an Accessibility initiative to bring its user-facing enterprise technologies into compliance with international IT Accessibility standards outlined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The customer requires dedicated User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) support specializing in Accessible design, usability and accessibility testing, user research, and process and content design. The Team will report to the customer’s staff Technical Accessibility Officer, who will manage priorities and requirements. The Web Developer will provide hands-on support to developer teams on Accessible app design and help the customer’s developers and other IT professionals learn and adopt Accessible design principles and incorporate accessibility into the UI and Information Architecture (IA) designs for enterprise applications, features, and websites. They will provide on-demand design coaching, consultation and troubleshooting, help the customer’s developers remediate accessibility violations in the UI and IA of existing web applications, and conduct usability and accessibility testing for redesigns. They will use UX best practices such as user interviews, observations, and journey mapping to design a seamless Accessibility adoption process for the customer’s developers and create supporting materials to help the customers developer teams successfully onboard Accessibility practices in their work. The Web Developer will create standardized Accessible design specifications and provide example UIs and IAs; identify or create if none already exists high quality training, resources, checklists, and other supporting materials to facilitate Accessible design, development and testing; assess and recommend best-in-breed Accessible design, development, and testing tools, including both manual and automated capabilities; and educate the customer’s developers on the best tools to use for different steps in the Accessible development process. They will capture and centrally document technical best practices, tips, and lessons learned for Accessibility adoption from developers and IT professionals across the customer organization, so that this practical information becomes institutional knowledge. The Web Developer should be prepared to improve the usability of existing corporate Accessibility materials and adapt them to the customer’s localized use cases; design, create, and manage the content for centralized Accessibility Sites on the customer’s networks; and help the customer to conduct outreach to users with disabilities, elicit and document their needs and pain points, and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that technical remediations have actually improved their experience of the customer’s enterprise technologies.

Mandatory Requirements:

1. (Mandatory) Demonstrated experience with UX, UI, web application and website design.
2. (Mandatory) Demonstrated experience working with development teams on web applications and websites.
3. (Mandatory) Demonstrated experience creating highly usable and intuitive digital and web content.
4. (Mandatory) Demonstrated experience in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and Accessible or Universal Design principles.

Optional Requirements:

5. (Desired) Bachelor of Science in UX, UI, User Research, Marketing, human-computer interaction (HCI), or a related field.
6. (Desired) Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring teams of developers and testers to develop web applications in accordance with specific technical requirements, especially Accessibility requirements.
7. (Desired) Demonstrated experience showing strong leadership acumen and the ability to implement a set of strategic goals with minimal direction.
